The Welling Court Mural Project, based in Astoria, Queens, NY, has been a labor of love by many in support of street art, graffiti and other boundary-pushing art imagery and forms. At the invitation of the local community, the Project was created in 2009 by Ad Hoc Art, a creative enterprise run by two Oklahoma natives, Garrison and Alison Buxton. Together, with the help of many others from the community and beyond, this project grows each year and receives a wide range of interest and acclaim, from the likes of The New York Times, US News and World Report, Huffington Post, NBC Universal, NY1, HyperAllergic, Brooklyn Street Art, 12oz Prophet, and others. Beginning with 40 murals the first year to over 130 in 2015, it is one of the best collections of street art and graffiti in the world.

Artists from around the country and the world take part in the WCMP, including fellow Oklahoman artists Kris Kanaly and Marcy Cordell, who have participated and helped out the last few years. They expressed that they wished a mural project like Welling Court to be in their communities. By creating more dialog and getting forward-thinking people together, we can help take steps in that direction and bring more public art to more communities around the country and the world. Ad Hoc Art is excited to bring imagery from an incredible cross section of artists who span the rich history of graffiti and street/urban art to Oklahoma. This show highlights muralists from the 70’s to present translating their works to gallery art. “WCMP: Wish You Were Here!” provides Oklahomans with the opportunity to add a piece of New York street art history to their collections while simultaneously contributing to future mural projects.

Participating artist: Alice Mizrachi, Alison Buxton, Amanda Marie, Avoid Pi, Cern, Chris Cardinale, Col Wallnuts, Crisp, Dan Weise, D Gale, Depoe, Don Leicht, Ellis G., EpicUno, Fumero Ism, Gaia, Garrison Buxton, Gilf!, Greg Lamarche, Hyland Mather, Icy and Sot, Jaime Rojo, Jerms, Joe Iurato, John Carr, John fekner, Joseph Meloy, Kimyon Huggins, Kris Kanaly, Lady Pink, Lexi Bella, LMNOPI, Luna Park, Magda Love, Marthalicia Matarrita, Michael Fitzsimmons, Marcy R.
